I wouldn’t kill him because he looked as frightened as I was.
I looked at him and I saw myself.

Title: finish the promise
Composer: Motoo Fujiwara
Game: Tales of the Abyss—
From the second part of the final boss fight. While this song didn’t surprise me as much at the first-part boss fight song, I nearly broke into tears upon learning the title of this song. I have never been so emotionally triggered with a work of fiction as I have been with Tales of the Abyss.
Title: time to raise the cross
Composer: Motoo Fujiwara
Game: Tales of the Abyss—
This plays during the first part of the final boss fight. I really was not expecting the prominent flute instrumentals, and I had to pause the game because this song blew me away. Overall the song feels very uplifting, and it just really feels like it can get you really pumped for something big that’s happening.
Oh. My. God.
Tales of the Abyss.
This game.
This GAME.
You honestly have no idea how long I have wanted to play this. I met Luke and Tear when I was playing Radiant Mythology, and instantly I adored them. Well, I adored Luke, despite his attitude, or maybe because of it, and I really like Tear. It certainly wasn’t through Luke’s well, looks. I mean, I think he’s adorable long and short haired, but long hair and exposure of the stomach doesn’t normally appeal to me. But with Luke, it was different. I found him amusing, and genuinely wanted to know more about hi and his story.
So when I learned they were from the new Tales game, andreallywanted to play it, especially considering that I had only played Tales of Symphonia.
Imagine my disappointment when I learned that, while it had been dubbed, was only being released in America. I figured I’d never get to play it, so I spoiled myself entirely on the story and found myself loving Luke and Asch completely.
But time went on, I lost interest, and moved on. The only other Tales game I played was Vesperia, and I truly enjoyed that, even if the story felt a little rushed and the characters a little underdeveloped, I loved it.
And then I found out a year after it had been released that there was a 3DS version of Tales of the Abyss, and that I could actuallyplay it.
I got it, played it relentlessly, and just finished it yesterday. I knew everything that was to happen, but still, so many times, right in the feels;_____; Over 140 hours on hard before I killed the final boss, after doing all but 3 sidequests.
I am just so happy that I finally got to play this game. That I got to see Luke’s story for myself, and actually meet all the characters.
It was just, wonderful.
Also chances are I will essentially just be blogging TOA stuff from here on out. You have been warned.
It seems only appropriate to use Petey the wannabe when jumping on this gif effect bandwagon, no?
